Quality of Life survey results for 2007

In recent years Bristol has been at the forefront in promoting the principles of sustainable development and the protection of its environment. This lead to the production o the State of the Local Environment report in 1996 followed by Sustainability Updates, later titled Quality of Life reports. They were originally based on the Local Agenda 21 Strategy for Bristol that provides a frame work and set of principles by which the city can move into a more sustainable future.

Indicators of the Quality of Life measure sustainable development. They help show us if Bristol is becoming a better or worse place to live, by using 'traffic light' sustainability or quality of life indicators.

Reports have been published since 1996. The most recent reports are available to download as pdfs, or by contacting the Sustainability Team.

Information is collected from a variety of sources both within the council and from partner organisations and are supplemented by the annual Quality of Life in your Neighbourhood survey.

Results from the surveys feed into many areas including Ward profiles, State of the Neighbourhood database , the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment and a number of departmental performance indicators.
