Suspension Bridge can sculpture

Suspension Bridge can sculptureThe bridge will be exhibited at the CREATE Centre from July 21 to 1 August.

Bristol’s famous Clifton Suspension Bridge has been recreated in Coke cans by sculptor Stuart Murdoch who has produced this intriguing artwork to mark the beginning of Recycle Week (2 - 8 June 2008).

Figures from the Recycle Now campaign reveal that if everyone in the South West recycled just one more aluminium can each week, we’d save 32,291 tonnes of CO2 a year – that’s the same as taking 10,219 cars off the road for a year.

Artist Stuart Murdoch said, "I wanted The Bridge to combine a graphic quality with surreal humour to highlight the madness of NOT recycling. I hope that people will enjoy this eccentric, engineered version of junk modelling and then take a second look at anything they throw away.  Landfill is not the place for drinks cans."
